Angèle is deeply passionate about intercultural diversity. Originally from Togo, she lived in Gabon and France before settling in Canada. Her love for bringing people together over food is rooted in her belief that sharing a warm, friendly meal is a powerful way to bond. This passion led her to frequently host meals at home, introducing friends and colleagues to the vibrant flavors and products of African cuisine.
Upon moving to Canada, Angèle quickly noticed the Canadians’ love for donuts—a treat that also holds a special place in African street food culture. As a child, she often helped her mother, who sold donuts, instilling in her a deep connection to this beloved snack. Inspired by this connection, Angèle began sharing her mother’s recipes, launching Dûnu to promote African gastronomy through donuts, juices, and snacks.

However, something unexpected happened. While selling donuts, the questions and curiosity from her customers extended far beyond the treats themselves. People wanted to know about the origins, traditions, and ingredients of African cuisine as a whole. This inspired Angèle to expand her vision. She realized that Dûnu could be more than a platform for delicious snacks—it could also serve as a gateway to introducing the world to the rich and diverse tapestry of African culinary traditions.
Today, Dûnu stands as a celebration of African food culture, bringing the flavors, stories, and spirit of Africa to Canadian households.
